Recipes for freedom is an art project by Marit Otto and Mark van Enk. The art project is a response to a personal project of Niek van der Sprong in which he asks himself and the audience the question ‘ What is that freedom’.
The concept: A freedom pharmacy on the festival grounds where the public comes to bring their recipe for freedom instead of picking it up. For this, we designed and built 3 installations scattered around the festival site. The pharmacies were manned by freedom pharmacists including ourselves.
The freedom pharmacy wanted to see the question ‘What is freedom?’ translated into beautiful, perhaps useful prescriptions for freedom.
At a regular pharmacy, you get a prescription but here you bring a prescription. This recipe ended up in a digital recipe book on the site BFO and the original was kept in a test tube for a yet unknown recipient………..
