A special sales exhibition at MICKSART in Emmen, NL, by two artists from Gaza: Ahmed Aldaalsa and Hussain Al Jerjawi. They both depict, as artists, eyewitnesses and suffering subjects from the very start, the hopelessness, violence and dejection in a devastated Gaza.

The exhibition will run simultaneously with the Harvest exhibition from July 20 to November 9, 2025.

Ahmed(26), living and working in Gaza, exhibited in Zwolle last summer with the exhibition Gaza ’24. Art space Het Langhuis displayed his drawings, hand-shot photographs and short videos. Hussain (17) was Ahmed’s student and, like Ahmed, regularly makes drawings and occasionally paintings and photographs about the situation in Gaza. Both young artists give us an unequivocal insight into their world of experience and show their powerlessness but also their resilience

The drawings are often raw and, for lack of materials, made with charcoal or crayons on paper, photographed and displayed on the instagram channel. The photos taken with the smartphone. The original works do not leave Gaza. A special formula was found with Ahmed last year to reproduce his work here. Dutch artist/graphic artist Olivier Otten consensually edited Ahmed’s work and silk-screened it on A2 and A3 sheets in small editions. Because this was a one-time operation, the latest drawings and photographs by Ahmed and Hussain will be printed on A2/ A3 and A5 sheets.

Some of the screen prints from that first series will be exhibited again at MICKSART. The other drawings and photographs not screen-printed will be printed on quality paper. Proceeds will go directly to the two young artists.

About Ahmed Aldaalsa: Ahmed has previously exhibited in galleries, and taught courses to children. Now his home has been destroyed, he survived with his family in a tent, near Rafah in Nuseirat, and is now trying to make the destroyed home livable again while a humanitarian disaster unfolds.
Ahmed on his latest drawing WAR; “In fact, I don’t find much to say because the amount of fear, distraction and depression is clear in the work.”

Lately Ahmed photography increases, he shows us ‘daily life’ in the streets of Gaza.

Hussain Jerjawi
Hussain Jerjawi

About Hussain Al Jerjawi: He was very active in the Gaza art community before this war started. For more than a year, he and his family live in constant fear, never knowing what the day will bring.

By buying these raw and fragile drawings and photographs by Ahmed and Hussain, you are not only buying a piece of drawn history and work by talented young artists but you are enabling them to make money with their art, something that is impossible for them now.

This exhibition is an initiative by me and MICKSART gallery owner, Erik Knegt.

Auction: Especially for this theme, a pair of curated bio-based sneakers from the Saye brand, X- Made by Marit will also be auctioned and the proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders. Bidding is possible during the opening of both exhibitions.
