Sublime Comedy

With this series, Sublime Comedy, I refer in a secular way to Dante’s Divine Comedy. I put this old story in a contemporary form with contemporary dilemmas. God plays no role in this series, except perhaps his absolute absence.

It is actually a continuation of my earlier series Metropolitans and Brave New World, and I continue my exploration of human shortcomings, or the state of our being.

Dante’s journey through the afterlife leads him through hell, and via purgatory to paradise. As I see it now, this journey describes the eternal balancing act between right and wrong and the eternal search for what it actually means to be human. In this day and age, many cult classics seem to be flourishing in a disturbing way. The Brave New World series alluded to Aldous Huxley’s science fiction story, but now I am traveling deeper into time and back to the present with Dante in mind.
