The Side show series (‘Rand Verschijnsels’) is a series of paintings in which human appearances are merely marginal. Graphic or geometric forms predominate and are image-defining. The presence of a person, figurant is casual and sideways. The images are personal and distant at the same time. Footage from my own personal photo archive provides the basis.
De Side show serie (Rand Verschijnsels) is een reeks van schilderijen waarbij de mens zich slechts als randverschijnsel toont. Grafische of geometrische vormen voeren de boventoon en zijn beeld bepalend. De aanwezigheid van een persoon, figurant is terloops en zijdelings. De beelden zijn persoonlijk en afstandelijk tegelijkertijd. Beeldmateriaal uit mijn persoonlijke foto archief vormt de basis.
