Als een van de deelnemers aan de tentoonstelling 25 x 25 x 25 in het Mondriaanhuis geef ik 09 februari om 14.30 een lezing waarbij ik op zoek ga naar de Mondriaan in mijzelf. Is deze aanwezig en waar uit zich dat in?

M Stands 4 is de titel van mijn ingebrachte werk voor de tentoonstelling 25 x 25 x 25 maar tevens de titel van mijn lezing in het museum. De titel verwijst onder andere naar de M van mij, de maakster Marit en de M van inspirator en onderwerp Mondriaan. De lezing geeft een kijkje in mijn keuken, mijn gedachtegang, mijn zoektocht en hoe ik te werk ga.
In de lezing meem ik je eerst mee naar het beginpunt, mijn eerste atelier in een oude ambachtsschool. Een school die onderricht in een aan De Stijl verwante architectuur; De Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. Vervolgens ga je mee op mijn weg naar autonomie in autonome kunst. Ik onderzoek hierin de vraag waarom ik maak wat ik maak en welke stijlelementen een vast bestanddeel vormen van mijn werk. Zijn er raakvlakken, misschien in werkwijze? Misschien in de grafische strakke ondertoon, de liefde voor Jazz/muziek? Of is er mogelijk iets anders dat ons bindt?
De lezing is voor iedereen die meer over mij , en mijn werk M Stands 4, wil weten. Hoe groot de invloed van Mondriaan op een kunstenares is die op het eerste gezicht ver van hem af staat?
Na afloop is er ruim gelegenheid om met mij in gesprek te gaan en vragen te stellen.

09 February at 14.30 I will give a lecture named M Stands 4- Marit Meets Mondrian at the Mondriaanhuis, Amersfoort. In this lecture I will search for the Mondrian in me. Is he present? And if so, how does it show.

M Stands 4 is the title of my contributed artwork to the exhibition 25 x 25 x 25 but it’s also the title of my lecture in the museum. The title refers to the M of the maker (me) Marit as to the M of the inspirator Mondrian. The reading gives a glance behind the scenes, my thoughts, my search and my working process.
In my lecture I will take you down memory lane, my first atelier in an old school for crafts and technique. A school build in a ‘Stijl’ related architecture (1932) the New Objectivity. Next I will take you on my journey to autonomy in autonomous art. I investigate the why of what I create and which style elements are established in my works. Is there a connection? Maybe we connect method wise? Maybe it’s the straight graphical undertone or the love of Jazz/music? Or is there perhaps something else that binds us.
The lecture is for everyone who is curious about my work, M Stands 4 and me. How big is the influence of Mondrian on an artist that has no visible connection at first site? Afterwards there is an opportunity to start a dialogue with me.
