As of 1 August, I now have a new studio!!!

In the last week of July, I relocated on the hottest day of the week! Clearly, I wasn’t on my own, as I received tremendous help from my loving boyfriend, my partner in crime, Erik van Scheijndel! Additionally, I was helped by Abdiwahab Ali and his pupils from the SamenOmhoog Foundation, Ismaël and Ahmed 🙏! Everything had to be carried up two flights of stairs – well, there was an elevator, but only the impossibly heavy, large items had to be hoisted up two flights by sheer muscle power, only to be wheeled, and perhaps I’m exaggerating here, 200 metres through the building (luckily there were small trolleys and all sorts of tables on wheels, which came in very handy). What can I say, it’s a long building!
So it was a sweaty, tough job; the following week we were still setting things up, doing lots of tasks and putting things in their place, once again with the help of the aforementioned Erik. But the place felt – and still feels – instantly right! What a space, what delicious light, what a cosy buzz from the terrace on the high street of the Zwolle Zuid shopping centre below me. I feel right at home!!
Then there’s something rather special about the address: officially ‘Gelijkheid 3’ – (Equality 3) which I think is a brilliant name and a bonus to this spot. But the interesting thing is that the entrance, which I now use every day and to which I have the key, is actually called ‘Broederschap’ (Brotherhood), and we’re just a stone’s throw from Vrijheidslaan (Freedom Avenue)! Liberté, égalité, fraternité, Vive la révolution! I’m digressing.
The thing is, I haven’t quite sorted out yet (let alone the postman) exactly where Gelijkheid 3 is (I think it’s the entrance at the Stadkamer below me). So, if you’d like to visit me, the easiest way is to come to the Broederschap and use the white door in the corner next to the De Pol community centre. I don’t have a doorbell, so just give me a ring and I’ll come and meet you!
My new address is a bit of a mix:
Gelijkheid 3 or Broederschap, next to De Pol
CareX is my new landlord – thanks, Ruud Bremmer!
I’ve left my much-loved studio at Rieteweg 10 behind me. Thanks to Martijn Buitenhuis, Anneke Vedelaar and Rianne T. for the lovely years on Rieteweg.
