Bij deze presenteer ik FAME-audio video experience no.10 (for English scroll down)
Muzikant en producer Ali Reza Tahoeni a.k.a.
Fame (makes a man take things over)
Zijn statement ‘In the future everyone will be (world) famous for 15 minutes’, blijkt met terugwerkende kracht de spijker op zijn kop.
Hereby I present Fame – audio video experience no.10
This video is part of the greater art installation of ‘Remains Of Today’.
This video takes you to life on a literal, fast lane, (de Zuidas, Amsterdam). This ‘traffic rushing by’ was captured while I was waiting on my train. This became the stage or background setting for a silenced but obviously talking Andy Warhol. Although his famous words about fame are never recorded, his lips are moving and suggesting he is preaching these words. Second, David Bowie, walking the catwalk as a ‘stuck up’ diva, agitated, wiping his lipstick all over his face, was the perfect role model to accommodate this Warhol statement. And there is a little surprise in the outro…
I stole these images in a very post-modernistic way, from the video clip Boys Keep Swinging and from an interview with Warhol, and nonetheless the droste-effect, again, it is art in its own right. This is one of the benefits of making art in postmodern times.
This can be seen as a tribute to both men and a critical remark on contemporary society at the same time.
Remains Of Today is a series of more than 100 small communicating artworks made from (street) litter. Musician and producer Ali Reza Tahoeni a.k.a. A.R.T. made soundtracks of the individual artworks. To finalize it I made videoclips to accommodate these soundtracks. One special feature in this video is that I am the voice who cries Fame.
This video is based on the artwork Fame (verbal 10) and the story goes like this:
Fame (makes a man take things over)
Inspired by the eponymous song – Fame- by Bowie. The sub sentence: “Makes a man take things over” is a quote from a chorus line from the same song. This is a combination of images and text. And there is a parallel to pop art artist, and Bowie friend, Andy Warhol. Warhol’s statement “In the future everyone will be (world) famous for 15 minutes”, seems spot on in hindsight. Was Warhol a visionary?
Did he have any idea of the magnitude of this concept in the here and now? Do we, really?
I proudly present my recent independently published Book to you! It is called Remains Of Today. This book contains an overview of the first 100 artworks of the art installation Remains Of Today. It is bilingual: Dutch and English.
London, metro herfst 2019.
Underground is onderdeel van de Brave New World serie.

2021
London underground fall 2019. We are cruising through dark tubes from one point to another. The city is above our heads, way over our heads. We are moving fast forward while we stand firm, steady as a rock, motionless and apparently emotionless. Packed like sardines, side by side in orderly fashion, avoiding eye contact at all times. In a way we are stuck together, united in our strangeness to each other. Numerous lives and stories all veiled in silence. Grunting engines and the squeaking of bouncing cabins surpasses hushed conversations, sighs, a cough, a yawn and one desperate whistle.
Boxed in a tin can on wheels. We are easy as a lazy river.
I worked on this painting for 6 months. It was quite an intensive process. Fall 2019, I was part of this scenery and took my camera to capture this, except for the bird, very common slice of daily ordinary life. Spring 2021, I decided to process it into a modern allegory, which you see before you. This contemporary snapshot reveals much about how we move ourselves around in public life. We found ways to maintain ourselves in all things we endure in unwanted social situations. In large groups we act like one system, like an organic but organised beehive. Being absent minded is key here. Being fully aware makes you want to escape, like this bird.

Muzikant en producer Ali Reza Tahoeni a.k.a.
‘Ontmoet verbal no.7. Of…..
Still Sparkling Still – audio video experience no. 08.
Featuring: Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier, a big bang, a water stream, a jumping figure and an image of Still Sparkling Still, the artwork.
It starts with water running in a kitchen sink and a stare down between Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier interrupted by the big bang. This big bang sets a proverbial continuous fight in motion. The boxers now represent mankind. The fight continues even when the countdown sets in. The water faucet enters the screen again, and is pouring his last drops until it runs on empty with the final last drop.
Remains Of Today is a series of more than 100 small communicating artworks made from (street) litter.
Musician and producer Ali Reza Tahoeni a.k.a. A.R.T. made soundtracks of the individual artworks. To finalize it I made video clips to accommodate these soundtracks.
This video is based on the artwork Still Sparkling Still (verbal 08), a collage of six caps from bottles still and sparkling water, lacquer paint matte white on canvas on a wooden frame
“A bottle of water is, or should I say 6 bottles of water were the inspiration for this original piece of art.
Sparkling and still are such common words when it comes to the choice in water. Not even worth giving it a second thought after you made your choice. Combined it’s a statement that seems to say; I am still here, very much alive and still sparkling! Or am I?”
The video shows a different but same angel on this still sparkling theme.

De A –side serie bestaat uit: 01– Fame (David Bowie), 02- What’s Going On (Marvin Gaye), 03- The Afterlife (Prince), 04- Sugar In My Bowl (Nina Simone), 05- Off The Wall, (Michael Jackson), 06- Into The Field Of Joy (Lenny Kravitz) en 07- Rebel (Lauren Hill), 08- 100 ways to be a good girl (Skunk Anansi), 09- Dream Brother (Jeff Buckley).
De B-side serie bestaat uit: 01Starman(David bowie), 02- Inter City Blues (Marvin Gaye), 03-Around The World In One Day (Prince), 04- Scream (Michael Jackson), 05-Strange Fruit (Nina Simone), 06-Raise Vibration (Lenny Kravitz), 07-Doowopthatthing, Lauryn Hill, 08-Post Orgasmic (Skunk Anansi) en 09- Lilac Wine (Jeff Buckley).
Hereby I present the complete Heroes/Helden series to you with this audio- visual teaser.

This is a series of digital manipulated images of my personal Heroes. It is distinguished in the A and B sides series. Named after the A and B sides of a record
The A -sides are limited and signed prints (on canvas) In edition of 1/1 – 120/80cm.
The B-sides are a limited and signed prints series in edition of 1/5 -120/80cm.
I started this series to fulfil my own need to put my personal heroes on a pedestal. The heroes on my ‘stage’ are with me for almost all my life, they inspired me, raised me and most importantly showed me that you do not necessarily have to fit in a standard matrix to find your place in life. They were the ultimate proof that is even better to not fit at all.
De A –side series contains:01– Fame (David Bowie), 02– What’s Going On(Marvin Gaye), 03- The Afterlife (Prince), 04- Sugar In My Bowl (Nina Simone), 05- Off The Wall, (Michael Jackson), 06- Into The Field Of Joy (Lenny Kravitz) en 07- Rebel (Lauren Hill), 08- 100 ways to be a good girl, (Skunk Anansi), 09- Dream Brother, (Jeff Buckley).
De B-side series contains: 01Starman(David bowie), 02- Inter City Blues (Marvin Gaye), 03- Around The World In One Day (Prince), 04- Scream (Michael Jackson), 05- Strange Fruit (Nina Simone), 06-Raise Vibration (Lenny Kravitz), 07-Doowopthatthing (Lauryn Hill), 08-Post Orgasmic (Skunk Anansi) en 09- Lilac Wine(Jeff Buckley)
(English) The Mondriaanhuis Amersfoort asked me to create a logo for the 150 years Mondriaan anniversary. They already had an image in mind, that image is partially an artwork I created for an earlier exhibition 25x25x25 (2019) in the same Mondriaanhuis. This artwork is a portrait in 3D of Piet Mondriaan, half as a young man, half as an older man. Later on, during the same exhibition I participated in an additional side- program with a lecture about finding the Mondriaan in me. For this lecture with the same name, M Stands 4, I created a logo featuring me creating the artwork as if it was a huge portrait. This is the very logo that the Mondriaanhuis set their eyes on. Now I am proud to say that, with a little adjustment of course, it became the banner for the 150th anniversary!
(NL) Er is een kort interview gepubliceerd op StartDesignArt, (startpage for professional art and design).
(ENG) StartDesignArt (startpage for professional art and design) published a short interview with me . In this interview I try to give some insights in the way I think and work.
Below a brief summary, the whole interview can be read at StartDesignArt.
As an artist I am driven and stimulated by the zeitgeist, current events, daily absurdity and human shortcomings. In other words, the condition humaine. Engagement is not so much a choice but a visual outcome of what naturally goes on in my head. I look for the common ground and wrap it in a somewhat aesthetic image. I find aesthetics an important part of my work because it is the connection for the underlying idea. The term elusive is used when people want to characterize me. That elusive is not my chosen definition. For me everything falls together in a logical way and there is a clear underlying motive. …….read more click me
I like to set something in motion, no matter how small. That may be my motivation and the bigger concept. Painting is kind of a spiritual necessity for me. It calms you down but it is also a fight, a fight with matter, patience and with myself. With painting, more than with anything else, the action is never self-evident, you can never fall back on previous successes, the solution for a good result is neither self-evident. ………..read more click me
“Be a master and a designer of yourself”, says Friedrich Nietzsche. This is about empowerment, about the ability to improve yourself, to be allowed to develop and grow despite (at least that’s how I read it) descent, nature and nurture. By shaping yourself you also make a start on shaping finer and better circumstances and who knows, maybe a slightly better world. ………………..read more click me
Basically I have this certain urgency to create. This urgency can also be ‘disappearing for a while’, but more often it is a compelling thought that imposes itself on me. This can be an idea, a word, an image, a sentence, a statement. By nature I have a restless soul and a head like a crowded house. Producing out of something that goes on in my head is tantamount for opening a valve to let some pressure out and create new space. So for me personally, a creative process is also very healthy for my mind. It keeps things in balance. …….read more click me
Conversely, it would be vain to state that I might be able or willing to influence others. I hope perhaps to inspire others. If we zoom out for a moment, you can currently see that engaged art is regaining a place within visual art. That is a great development. …….read more click me
