The Exhibition Resistance tries to interpret this loaded word artistically. As seen through the eyes and hands of the artists, this word proves that it can indeed be viewed and approached from many different angles; abstract, specific, personal, political, social, philosophical or psychological

This exhibition expresses resistance in various ways to contemporary developments and events such as: growing authoritarian tendencies, a government that bureaucratically crushes its citizens, the depletion of the earth, and addictive algorithms used by social media companies—there are so many reasons for resistance, the list goes on.

The intention of this exhibition is to make a visual statement, whether subtle or forceful.

Vandaag, 12 augustus, een mooi stuk over de expositie ‘Message From Gaza’, in het het Dagblad van het Noorden.

Dit zijn de eerste regels;

“Er zit iemand met opgetrokken knieën op een muur, waarachter een vluchtelingenkamp begint. Een grote bende is het, met ergens tussen de tenten en rotzooi een Palestijnse vlag. Het affiche dat Erik Knegt heeft opgehangen bij de entree van MicksArt Gallery in Emmen spreekt voor zich. Zo niet, dan is er nog de tekst die een kleine tentoonstelling met kunst uit Gaza aankondigt: “How can a person lose everything he owns and not lose his mind?”

Met uiterst beperkte middelen, onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden, proberen Palestijnen de situatie waarin ze leven in beelden te vatten.”

“Someone is sitting with their knees drawn up on a wall, behind which a refugee camp begins. It is a large mess, with a Palestinian flag somewhere among the tents and rubbish. The poster that Erik Knegt has hung at the entrance to MicksArt Gallery in Emmen speaks for itself. If not, there is also the text announcing a small exhibition of art from Gaza: “How can a person lose everything he owns and not lose his mind?”

With extremely limited resources, under appalling conditions, Palestinians are trying to capture the situation in which they live in images.”

Wonderful news, my painting ‘ Last Gatekeepers Of Lost Revolutions’ has been shortlisted in the Singulart International Women’s Day 2025 Award!

The jury states that it stands out with its unique perspective on the theme of (female) Bravery.

About the work itself:
Hovering female figures spreading their arms wide open and floating around. They are jumping and moving simultaneously. They are clearly present and strong. The last gatekeepers is referring to a world where young men, the proverbial sons, are sent to war by other men. This is why, I believe, when women rule, wars will end. No mother in her right mind will ever send her child voluntarily to a war, any war.

Last Gatekeepers Of Lost Revolutions is part of the Metropolitan series and is currently on display in Bruxelles handled by Bernice, Art Rental and Gallery in Temse.

Wie volg je, wat volg je, waarom volg je, wie volgt jou en waar draait het uiteindelijk op uit?

#DO YOU FOLLOW ME + #ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME; deze twee lichtbakken, maakten destijds deel uit van de video-installatie Dedicated Follower. Deze installatie was speciaal gemaakt voor de tentoonstelling Rituelen in het Rietveld Paviljoen Amersfoort 2022. Daarna heeft het op twee andere locaties in formatie gestaan met de video Dedicated Follower als middelpunt. De video is ook onafhankelijk vertoond zonder de lichtbakken, onder andere tijdens een Grieks videokunst festival – Video Art Miden in Kalamata 2023

Mijn bijdrage zijn twee speciale edities in kleine oplage van 1/3. Deze twee kunstdrukken: Scream en Around The World In One Day

Deze twee prints zijn digitaal gemanipuleerde portretten van Michael Jackson en Prince, en oorspronkelijk uit mijn serie Heroes die ik eerder maakte ter ere van mijn persoonlijke muziekhelden.

Speciaal voor deze gelegenheid heb ik een iets andere look gecreëerd en op een ander formaat afgedrukt.

Grafiek, fotografie, objecten

Maar liefst 43 kunstenaars werken dit jaar mee aan deze bekende en terugkerende expositie Prints & Multiples. De expositie waar zowel ervaren als beginnende kunstliefhebbers hun weg vinden.

Kunst met Korting

Elke deelnemende kunstenaar exposeert met twee werken, waarvan één werk wordt aangeboden voor de ‘Kunst met Korting-prijs’ van € 155,-  en een ander werk voor de normale prijs. Of je nu een verzamelaar bent of een mooi, betaalbaar kunstwerk zoekt dat je raakt, het is beslist de moeite waard om eens rond te kijken.

Expositie Floreren

De nieuwe expositie Floreren van MicksArt Collectief is gisteren geopend. Hier ook recent werk van mij te bewonderen. Mocht je in de buurt zijn of niet in de buurt maar gewoon nieuwsgierig naar deze bijzondere plek in Emmen en naar mijn werk en het werk van de vele andere kunstenaars, gewoon gaan kijken is mijn advies.

Exhibition Florish

MicksArt Collective’s new exhibition Flourishing opened yesterday. Here also recent work of mine can be admired. Representatie Al-Tiba9 op Artsy, een nieuwe samenwerking

Mijn werk is beschikbaar bij Al-Tiba9 Gallery via Artsy. Het bevat 15 kunstwerken die een periode bestrijken van 2014 tot nu.

R.O.T. Yellow, Black and Red @ expositie Sustainable

Vanaf donderdag 14 december is de expositie Sustainable (Duurzaamheid in de kunst) te zien in Galerie de Ploeg, Amersfoort. De expositie is tot 07 januari te bezoeken.

R.O.T. Yellow, Black and Red 2023

R.O.T. Yellow, Black and Red zijn voortgevloeid uit mijn project + installatie van Remains Of Today. Dit project/ deze installatie is afgelopen maand (november 2023) afgerond. Het behelst in totaal 300 kleine (30 x 30cm) circulaire kunstwerken van gevonden en hergebruikte materialen en teksten. Remains Of Today heeft op diverse plekken geëxposeerd als een grote – groeiende – installatie. Toen ik de laatste hand er aan legde voelde ik de behoefte om er toch een hele nieuwe benadering op los te laten., een soort van Best Of. Deze best of resulteert in verschillende 9 luiken waarbij gezocht is naar overlap in kleur en de best mogelijke collage van de eerder gemaakte collage composities. De eerste 3 Yellow, Black and Red, worden geëxposeerd tijdens Sustainable 02, in galerie de Ploegh.

De overige deelnemende kunstenaars zijn: Hannah Blom, Boudewijn Korsmit, Adriana Nigting, Sari Piek, Mark van Praagh, Catherine Schoenmaker, Cecile Spronsen, Harry Tomese, Jose van Waarde, Carla Zeegers en Marjan Jaspers.

Duurzame kunst heeft geen vaste regels, maar is eerder een evoluerende en
aanpasbare manier van denken over de betekenis van kunst maken. Het maakt gebruik van gerecyclede en hergebruikte materialen, bijeengeraapte of herwonnen materialen, duurzame materialen en processen, en het werken vanuit een missie van duurzaamheid.
